A Case-Based, Evidence-Informed Approach for Cannabis as Medicine

Course Description:  Cannabis legalization is sweeping through individual states and is seriously being considered at the federal level. At the same time, the Farm Act of 2018 has allowed for the proliferation of CBD products advertised to cure a wide range of conditions. 

 

Are you ready?

 

It might surprise you to learn which of your patients are using cannabis and why. Grounded in 3 patient cases, this workshop will provide a broad overview for healthcare practitioners on cannabis as medicine. Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to hear from physical therapists who are involved in the cannabis industry and who are talking with patients/clients about THC and CBD for managing conditions such as pain, neuropathy, sleep disorders, etc.

 

Learning Objectives:  By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define cannabis related-terminology, including the differences between medical marijuana, recreational, and adult-use

  • Differentiate between THC and CBD

  • Talk with patients/clients about cannabis

  • Explain different delivery methods and their implications

  • Describe the physiological, psychological, and adverse effects of cannabis, including drug interactions

  • Explain the of laws and regulations that affect using and accessing cannabis products
